Meet Charlotte, Consultant Town Planner – Consulting & Advisory.
Tell us a bit about your career journey.
I chose Town Planning because I’m fascinated by how urban spaces impact people, movement, and the environment. Town Planning is essentially a kind of social science, and I didn’t know it existed as a career until I started university. After graduating from university, I joined the Veris Young Professionals Program (YPP) in Melbourne. The YPP exposed me to various aspects of the industry while allowing me to hone my specialty in town planning. After completing a year of the YPP, I am now working as a Consultant Town Planner for Veris.
What do you love most about working in town planning?
I love how it feels like the intersection of a range of sectors and there are so many pathway options based on whether you are more interested in environmental planning, urban design or transport.
What motivates you to progress in your career?
I am so passionate about the industry as a whole. My motivation particularly lies in sustainable urban development and urban renewal of places no longer fit for purpose. The future of the industry is rapidly evolving, and I am excited to see where it will lead me in my career journey.
